Hi Friends,
Here are a few beautiful, astonishing and meaningful things I encountered this week:
Crossing the Bar “Against the background of a cityscape and sea wall, Men! Dancing! [a British men’s dance group] gather on a deserted beach to explore what it is to be human.” This is a beautiful short film. I think a lot about feminism, but I also find myself thinking a lot about how we might detoxify masculinity from the state it is in. I want to live in a world where the men I love feel more freedom to express themselves, experience their emotions and build meaningful relationships with each other. I want to live in a world that honors more of our full humanity.
I have dear friends in North Carolina, their lives have been completely rearranged by the hurricane. My instagram feed is full of artists who have lost everything. Please consider making donations for these artists via Cerf (Craft Emergency Relief Fund).
This song ‘Grow’ by the artist FACESOUL came on while I was painting this week. It felt like a direct message from the great unknown.
A friend and I walked in the autumn sunshine yesterday afternoon and talked about noticing a lack of space within our personal communities for sharing what’s going well in life. It’s really important to share the hard stuff with others, and also the joy stuff! So, What’s been going well for you lately?
