Hello Dear Humans,
Last week I shared I was all in on hope, and yesterday, I was reminded by Austin Channing Brown that hope is a duty, and worth it, even when the outcomes are beyond disappointing. After I feel my way through the matrix of big feelings I have right now, I know I will return to living and nurturing an active hope.
I found a lot of solace this week in going to my regular art group as well as doing some art and writing with a dear friend. Practicing creativity and connection is helping me get a little more grounded each day.
Yesterday I re-listened to Valarie Kaur’s beautiful recording of A Sikh Prayer for America on November 9th, 2016 I resonated once again, with her metaphor of a long labor, remembering the labor I went through to give birth (48+ hours) and how, while I was in it, it seemed it would never end, but it did.
We have had bright sunny days here in the PNW, the autumn colors bursting. As I walk my dog, feel the sun on my back and look at the trees, various lines from Joy Harjo’s Remember poem keep coming to me.
I have also been leaning on this playlist. Music helps me move and process emotions.
If you are feeling the disappointment and heartbreak of this week, please know you are not alone. We will get through this, one day at a time.
With love,
Anna Marie
"Practicing creativity and connection is helping me get a little more grounded each day." This a is a great reminder - even when it's busy to create a little / connect a little, it adds up! 🙏
